However, most people have similar questions before renting self storage – so to save you the hassle, we’ve answered a handful of the most common questions customers ask us when renting our storage Cubes in Tauranga:
What size units are available?
Most self storage facilities will be able to offer units that will store a few boxes up to units or containers that can store cars or boats. Always make sure you’re comparing apples with apples when asking for a price.
Cube It’s storage Cubes come in three sizes: 2m x 2m (8m3); 3m x 2m (12m3) and 4m x 2m (16m3).
What is the difference between portable storage and self storage facilities?
Our portable storage means, instead of you packing all your belongings into a trailer or moving truck as is required with renting a storage unit, we bring the storage Cube to you! You get to fill it over a time frame that works for you, whether it’s the same day or over the week or weekend. We then collect the Cube and put it into storage for you at our storage facility in Tauranga. The process is then repeated at the end of your storage period.
Is insurance needed?
Most self storage facilities do not insure your belongings whilst in storage, however, it is always recommended and is usually covered by your home and contents insurance. We suggest you check with your insurance company to see if self storage is included in your cover and if so, they will require the address of where it is being stored as well as what security the facility has.
How long can you rent a self storage unit?
All our storage Cubes are rented on a month to month basis and can be rented on a short term or long term basis.
Can anything be stored in a self storage unit?
Most things can be stored in a storage unit however, there is no exception when it comes to anything flammable, combustible, hazardous or toxic. Any perishable food or animal products. As our Cubes are portable and relocatable, we prefer to not store heavy gym equipment or heavy tools or machinery.
How is the security at your facility?
Our Tauranga storage facility has an on-site manager and is monitored 24 hours via security cameras. As we are not your typical 24 hour swipe card facility, we do not have people coming and going at all hours of the day and night to our Tauranga storage facility. Our gates are only unlocked upon arrangement therefore, we get to monitor who is coming and going at all times.
